Sarah and Oprah.
Sarah Palin meets Oprah Winfrey doesn't need an explanation, the event is a wordless success with just a glance at their self-regarding whimsy. Why is Sarah Palin significant as a politician? My information from a wag is that in the feverish search for the next Republican star who is not weighed down with puffy jowls and grouchy remarks, Sarah Palin looks like the new Pepsi Generation. You remember the Pepsi Generation? When Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney and Mitch McConnell and Dick Cheney were young and foolish, the B&W Pepsi Generation owned the future of American politics. Now it's Sarah Palin's cohort to rise and clink Pepsi bottles and command the GOP pop. Is the she the one? If not, she's closer.

There's now a powerful feeling sweeping our nation. It stems from a hunger for a patriotic, pro-American agenda. All that is missing is leadership. Should someone emerge who is willing to embrace this agenda, he or she would be swept into elective office by overwhelming majorities.
The American Left is well aware of the situation. They know that the American people are against them. They know they cannot expose their candidates to fair and impartial elections; they know they would lose it all in a flash should Americans be given the opportunity to take back the votes they cast a year ago.
This is something the Left cannot change for they are ideologues who do not know compromise. If they mean to hang on to power, they need to do it by unorthodox means. One way is to immediately and ruthlessly destroy any person around whom a pro-American agenda can potentially coalesce. As such, Sarah Palin will be mercilessly attacked, demonized, smeared, lied about, neutralized, etc. until she can no longer be regarded as a threat. It will be the same for any other potentially credible standard-bearer for conservative values who would dare show his or her face in the public arena.
What we have in this country already is a form of fascism - rampant intimidation that borders on outright censorship. Only liberal views go unchallenged. Only progressive views are praised. Conservative ideas, on the other hand, are strictly backwater, uneducated, hick, racist, sexist, and just plain wrong. Who in their right mind would risk wading into such dangerous waters?
Is Sarah Palin in her right mind? Possibly not. But if she is, she’s a hero in my book.

That's why Republicans and mainstream conservatives will continue to remain utterly ineffectual: They desire leaders, which means that they wish to be followers.
Americans have done quite enough following already. As in follow foolish politicians to the sands of Iraq and Afghanistan even as our own country rots from within due to the loss of our industrial base and a deluge of Third World immigrants.
Palin is more of the same. Her handlers know this, and are betting on the continued gullibility of so-called conservatives.
I have been reading some of the liberal blogs about Palin and I'm really starting to fear for her life. There is a lot of really visceral hatred out there for her. Apart from her conservative views, what is there to hate about her? I fear for her life. I get a bad feeling about all this divisiveness. I am afraid that someone will bring her down and then one of her followers will attempt revenge and we might really get into an awful state of affairs.
What did/does Barry H O have over her ? Besides a loving media?? She has done more than him.
I bought the Newsweek, sorry, I had to.
Most people qualified for the job, and who would do it really well, are either not telegenic or fast talking and / or lying salesmen.
Who would actually want to go through the scrutiny? Where no faults exist, an unfavorable media will create them.
Who will turn out to be the new conservative leader? We just don't have enough manistream media power to put someone out there. Will there be any Amerika left?
Tell the lie often enough and people will begin to believe it. How many times do we have to speak the truth???
