"We have a different value system here..." says Mrs. Pelosi of the GOP House, when asked why the Blair House gabfest did not happen in March 2009 instead of at the very end of the end of the process, after Mrs. Pelosi wrote the healthcare bill that she passed with 219 Democrats last fall. Mrs. Pelosi possesses everything the voluble and vain M. Robespierre missed out on with his unfortunate early exit -- a grinding passion for victory over the enemies of the Revolution - in this case, the puny and disorganized GOP - jailed at Luxembourg Palace Prison in order to be guillotined in the Reign of Terror now under way in Washington. Mrs. Pelosi may be fighting the last revolution? It is the independent voters, who rejected the GOP in 2006 and 2008, who will now reject Mrs. Pelosi's majority. I am tempted by the fresh opinion that each day of reconciliation brings Washington closer to the return of the GOP flim-flam of yesteryear.

I have noticed people - grown ups - beginning to growl when these subjects come up.
According to Einstein’s theory of relativity, as an object approaches the speed of light, it becomes increasingly heavier. Theoretically, at the speed of light its mass will have reached infinity. This effectively would put a physical ceiling on the speed at which an object can travel (relative to any other). Seen another way, it becomes clear that any object traveling at speeds beyond 186,000 mi./sec. would seriously impair the cause and effect continuum and make the notion of traveling backwards in time – if not practical – at least plausible.
Obama’s agenda too has already been repelled by a (political) ceiling. Forcing the agenda beyond what is politically doable would require non-political means. It would have to be done at the point of a gun.

I just hope the awakening of the "independent" voters isn't too little too late. Some of these initiatives don't roll back very cleanly. We may have to investigate time travel after all. republican flim-flam? Maybe so, but I am pretty sure that although they too had us moving in the wrong direction, at least then we were moving more slowly.
I've always suspected that the only way to set things right would be to first have a total collapse. But I'm in no hurry to have that theory proven. Is there irony to the Emanuel rule about not letting a crisis go to waste? Maybe he is working at the wrong metaphysical level to define exactly which crisis is involved, namely the one he and those like him are creating for us.
On the way to Massachusetts on Saturday, I was listening to WABC, JB's home station. The host was interviewing Ed Koch who gave the Dems some fairly lame support and said the Republicans have not presented anything serious. Then he said something very insightful. JB has the wrong history here.
What Koch said is that the Republicans should nail to the door exactly what they will support and what they won't support. In other words the Republicans should be Luther and go to Pelosi's office and nail to her door a list of things they will support and what they will not support.
And then say, "Here we stand, we can do no other. God help us." If they did such a thing, Obama would call it a stunt but it would get national attention.
It is a bit of an overdramatization to compare this pack of lowlife Democrats to anyone involved in the French Revolution. Nobody is going to be beheaded here. The worst that is going to happen to any politicians is that they'll lose their jobs, at which point they'll have to learn how to make an honest living. Life will go on. For many thousands in France, life did not go on after 1793. It's wrong to make too much of Pelosi. She's just a garden-variety b___. Harry Reid is just a garden variety idiot. By the way, speaking of those two, anyone catch the slip of the tongue last night when one of the roundtable referred to them as Nancy Reid and Harry Pelosi?
Lou, you ruined it for me. I was expecting the guillotine.
Peter, mass and energy become equivalent...and if you slow down the speed of light, which can happen through certain mediums, going just 186,000 miles per second would be faster than the speed of light at that instant, but not exceeding it's theoretical limit.
