The small desert town of Zahedan in the southeast of Iran has wide avenues with little vehicle traffic, small residential houses and solitary municipal buildings built of a light sandstone, universities, football clubs, a prominent central mosque and the ordinary, cargo-cult life of Iranians in an energy rich but trade strangled state. The
suicide bomber attack within the last news cycle struck against a large crowd in a small mosque for Friday morning prayers looks to be part of a local rebellion, perhaps related to the Baluchistan rebellion across the border in Pakistan, and perhaps related to narco-lords who devil Iran much like they do in Mexico. The new attack looks like the
2007 attack, which was claimed by a Sunni-based Baluchi cult called
Jundalla, or soldiers of Allah. Iran is not a well-run tyranny. It is a beggarly, marginal, superstitious, fatalist state, the product of at least two centuries of European-aided feudal lords in Tehran and local warlords. This new suicide bombing struck at an ordinary, poor, clean, unremarkable population at prayer. The official toll as of now is at least 25 dead and 80 wounded. The blood on the tile of the mosque reminds me of the blood I have seen on the floor of a hotel in Israel, a week after an attack, even after it was scrubbed aggressively.
Tehran blamed the US, aka the Great Satan or, more recently, the World Arrogance, meaning the
Obama administration. This mechanical, predictable blame-shifting provided a lesson to the zestful White House that when you aim to try jaw-jaw diplomacy with an apocalyptic and suicidal tyranny, it is like playing solitaire. You can claim you are winning at any moment if you change the rules, that is, cheat. But cheating at solitaire is not winning, is it? And yet, there is no one else in the game, is there? In response to the bombing, the Obama administration sputtered a bit
and then condemned the bombing with language so unfelt that it sounds like the way Arafat used to condemn bombings.
"The
American people send their deepest condolences to the victims and their
families. No cause justifies terrorism, and the United States condemns it in
any form, in any country, against any people." "Deepest condolences" to the rueful, impoverished, disregarded people of Zahedan? Tehran must smile at this hollow, reflexive diplomatic ploy. Is the Obama team copying from a book? The Tehran Twelvers are serenely in charge of this narrative -- just as they were with the narrative during the Bush administration. The more aggressive the Twelvers are with nukes, missiles and rhetoric, the less the humble people of Zahedan signify. What is the nuke confrontation for? To sow chaos and to dominate the Gulf and the US. All working logically. However a parallel advantage for the Twelvers is that the nuke confrontation dominates all the people of Iran who are as mute and impotent as Zahedan.
Ohhh, these clans... they are sooo unpredictable! And Tehran, without investigating to any satisfactory degree, announces to the world that the Obama Administration is to blame. There was also, a gunfire strike at the campaign headquarters of the PotIRI in the region, too.
There are arrests in both cases and we should watch carefully how these suspects are treated and make sure they have the basic rights that all terrorists and murderers should be entitled to. Be vigilant! Google it every day!!!
What is the story concerning the air samples taken after the nuke test? Inconclusive? Trace indicators would be more than just somewhat detectable. Today's instrumentation is far too sophisticated to miss any amount of atomic material. To me, this whole affair has not seemed credible or believable. It's out of the NK comfort zone and points to a cover up for a misfire or something.
Pringringpring. "Fearress Reader here, how much?"

In his latest series of missives, B. Raman has been chronicling the ongoing chaos in Pakistan. There are many details to digest - different groups; different motives - but only one overarching emotion: a foreign presence in the Middle and Near East. Even those who are said to be friendly to us are at best playing both sides. Any tribal engendered brutality can ultimately be laid at the feet of the Americans whose support of Israel is seen as an unacceptable intrusion in the region.
If America were to reduce its influence, what would happen? It is doubtful that sentiments would change overnight. Obama’s hard line on Israel is likely to impress no one. They would not understand the nuance that would dictate the framing of the argument. The only expedient solution for the U.S. is to advance a one-state template: not Israel, but Palestine. Anything less only prolongs the agony.
Our new administration in Washington appears to have already decided. Israel is beginning to realize that she has been left utterly alone now to face the final assault. Israel too is divided. She will have to decide whether to go down swinging or march obediently into the hell's rings of certain defeat, leaving God to sort out the rest.
It will soon become clear (if it hasn’t already) that America is quite willing to do whatever it takes to endear itself to Israel’s enemies. Will the turmoil in the region cease? Not likely. It will remain, as it has for centuries: a kettle of warring tribes.
The damage will be to America. How will America handle the stain of genocide? It is sure to leave a festering wound – one that will never heal. The apologies will be endless and sincere – not like the tepid, perfidious and relatively harmless apologies of today.
Yesterday, I saw Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto”. I was channel-surfing and this one caught my attention. I didn’t know what it was until the first commercial break. And then it dawned on me. This was Mel’s vision of America’s future. The film is said to begin with an epigraph from Will Durant: "A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within." No wonder the libs screamed like stuck pigs when the film was first released. Gibson had scored a direct hit on the sensitive underbelly of history re-written to suit.
Actually, Gibson was completely fixated on realism in making "The Passion" and "Apocalyto"
When asked why all the gore.. he said something like "I know how to do this kind of stuff"
Let the Iranians buiilt their reactor. Israel knows it can't win on conventional means, but will nuke iran as a second strike option. This is a mini-Cold War left over from the superpowers. The only way to deter a bully is to stand up to them, ie, Israel/USA.
North Korea knows that it will be bullied around because it fighting against American imperialism. Moreover, this is another excuse to make President Obama be the hero as saves the world on the brink of WWIII.
This is all a distraction as 13 trillion dollars is taken by the international bankers as America slips more into a fascist state.
WORDS FAIL IN THE FACE OF TERRORISM AND DEATH
John, what would you have the POTUS say? As you love to point out: In the fog of war, the first three reports are wrong. For the POTUS to say anything more than what was said could be misconstrued or, worse, wrong.
The bombing could have something to do w/the upcoming election. But what? Were innocents killed or was one person a target? Is the power structure in Iran impossible to hit? Or was the bombing a product of the power structure?
This is an excellent article, I will be sure to add you to my morning routine
