Marked Man.
BBC interviews the Iranian physician who was nearby Neda Agha-Soltan when she was shot on Saturday, Dr. Arash Hejazi.
Hejazi says that he did not know Neda Agha-Soltan. Hejazi is a physician, originally from Tehran, who now lives in London as a publisher. He was with friends in Tehran, visiting for several days. He and his companions went outside on Saturday 2o to see the protesters going by on the big streets. Teargas drove them and others down an alley away from the main protest. The sound of a shot. Hejazi turned to see a young woman collapse. He jazi is one of the two men leaing over the woman. The other man is her music teacher. The two cellphone videos we have tell the story brutally. I showed the videos to a nineteen year-old American male who is just now focusing on the story. Within seconds, the nineteen year-old understood the injustice. The Youtube generation measures what it see on video swiftly. No agitprop from Tehran or Washington can interfere. Hejazi's lengthy testimony to the BBC will stand up as an annotation of the video of Neda Agha-Soltan's death -- a video that is a sudden, damning indictment of the Twelvers -- much the same way the execution of a VC by a Saigon police chief during Tet in 1968 became the icon of what was wrong in Vietnam.
Basij Shooter
Afterward, Hejazi says that people in the crowd grabbed a Basij with a weapon whom they said had done the shooting. The Basij cried out, "I didn't want to kill her." The crowd complained, "Don't harm him; we are not killers, like them," then, "We can't turn him to the police, what should we do?" Hajazi says that the Basij shooter was just crying because he was afraid. "So they let him go... They were afraid to expose themselves to the police. They took his identiy cards. I know there are people there who know who he is. I know that some people were taking photos of him..."
Hejazi Remembers
"I was washing my hands complusively, for many minutes. A fear of death overwhelmed me. That guy who shot her could have still been there. It was the first time in my life I felt that fear of death...Profound sense of guilt that I couldn't save her.... I didn't sleep for three nights. The look in her eyes, she didn't have time to say anything. Very innocent look...."
"She wanted freedom of assembly."
"The most important thing is that I'm putting myseklf in jeopardy because I am talking to you.... She died for a cause....She wanted freedom of assembly, which is even mentioned in the Constitution of Iran... She died on the streets to say something... As an eyewitness... I haven't seen any of the protesters carrying a gun... they just had their hands and the their voice... This is a crime, unarmed civilians were on the street asking for something..."
Flowers.
"I hear that people were planning to gather in a mosque, and it was cancelled by the government... People put flowers there.... the next day... a rubbish truck came by and threw rubbish on the flowers... there were more than ten people gathering there and they were hit by the Basij to scatter... I've never been in politics,...I want the world to know that I'm here on my own will.... just the innocent look in her eyes before she died.... But the Basij is armed, it's an armed force..."
Thugs.
Hejazi is now a marked man, and he knows it. He knows he cannot return to Iran. Will the regime persecute his family in Tehran? Yes. Will the regime strike at Hejazi in London? Yes. Where is he safe? Nowhere. And the shooter? From Hejaz's remarks, his identity is known. There may be a photograph. The weapon may by available. Much turmoil ahead; much to discover; much for the regime to cover-up.

"The Basij just need a hug. Let us invite them over for a Burgers and Halal hot dogs! If we can get them to sit down for serious negotiations, then the peace process can begin....."
We've heard this in one form or another from elite Universities to Foggy Bottom, and they believe this Bovine Cr@p! I'm surprised the Beeb is covering this story, they typically lean toward support for Radical Muslim Ideology.
Has anyone seen or heard any comments coming out of Cairo, Amman, Damascus, Ankara, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Baghdad, or Kabul concerning the situation in Iran?
I'm not completely convinced that anyone has clarity on the Iranian or the North Korean dilemmas. Using Russia and Reagan or Hitler and the Jewish persecutions as reference points for a basis in policy doesn't congeal for me.
Hitler and his henchmen were no doubt diabolical and marshaled the nation to a higher (however distorted) vision with the notion of Leibensraum and subjugation of the weak to fulfill the vision, yet, when confronted with the Jewish populations, none were to be included, even as slaves for the State. The Jews were found all throughout Europe and were influential German and European citizens in their own right, although mostly independent and apart from the predominant community as a whole and governments in general. A nation within a Nation. This made them easy scapegoats for the perceived ills in the German State as it was and the main target for elimination in pursuit of the Europa of the future. After all, they were not real citizens and through their idiosyncrasies could be labeled as foreign intruders who were distinctly anathema to the vision.
In much the same way, except on a more expansive scale with many more complications, the Soviet Union contained many nations all of which possessed national identities that were centuries old. Yes, the USSR had been held together by the seating of implacable strong armed heads to govern their nations, but, they were somewhat autonomous to impose their will, in order to maintain the Union under the dictate of Moscow.
In both cases, intrigue and sophistry reigned supreme. War of utter destruction and victory ended one. The other succumbed to internal strife, economic failure, and the nationalism that was inherent in the nations that made up the Union and would not be denied. To the extent some words from a couple of Presidents brought on the collapse of either seems a stretch and implausible. But, history is made by being on the right side at the right time.
As far as Iran and North Korea, both are single nations and predominantly inhabited by single populations who must be beholding to the Nation without question. The nature of the regimes are to protect the integrity of the regimes by every manner possible and dissent is considered treacherous and, as is their practice, to be punished by death. There is no gray in compromise. There is no questioning the Supreme Leader.
I know this is elementary thought, but, the Supreme Leader of Iran referenced the "Davoodi" sect of Waco last week. I think he was telling us something without really knowing he was revealing the underpinnings and the tenets of the IRI. We remember the Davidians and those events. The raid to enforce the Law of the Nation where some agents of the law were confronted and died in a firefight of resistance to the Law. Eventually, we knew that David Koresh and some henchmen had built a militarized nation in the middle of a secluded Texas plain. We learned that they had pushed the limits of the Law and were defiant in their apocalyptic view of themselves. We found out they were pious in their religiosity and had no intention of wavering from the vision of their Supreme Leader. Some were saved and allowed to leave the nation. The ones that remained were denied their chance to leave by the mystical forces of nature that compel some to accept a fate chosen for them by others or by the outright imprisonment of innocents held as hostages, like the children were. Extreme sanctions were in place. Enticements and promises of fairness and justice were considered suspect. Negotiations became futile. Frustration pushed limits to the fore as time went on and the will of a Nation based on Law was challenged. Dismantling of the regime became the means to the end. It had to end.
We all know what transpired. The Supreme Leader ordered it to end in the manner he had repeatedly said it was going to end.
The Supreme Leaders of these two Nations are no different than the Branch Davidian Koresh. The Universal Law of Nations is aligning to dismantle them. They understand that the hostages of the cult are the hindrance to the will of the Law being implemented. The Law knows that the cult does not release their hostage innocents.
The Law stands across the Divide and should beckon to the innocents who might find a way to come out into the protection of the Law.
Baghdad, Baku, Ankara... Beijing, Seoul--- where are your voices calling out to the innocents? You all could live up to your highness and accomplish the impossible and be the true Earthly salvation for those seeking shelter. Guarantee Safe Passage Across the Divide.
In all likelihood, it's inevitable that eventually they will be coming... asking you for shelter.
EXODUS
Last night we witnessed the American equivalent of what is currently happening on the streets in Tehran. The House passed "historic climate and energy legislation Friday evening that would transform the country’s economy and industrial landscape" (as reported by yahoo). The bill was passed unread by members, which would indicate that it was voted for and against purely for ideological reasons. As Democrats control the every facet of government, there was never any doubt that the legislation would pass by virtue of herd instinct alone.
All this happened while growing international scientific consensus appears to indicate that the ‘man-made global warming’ scare is a hoax (see article by Kimberley A. Strassel entitled, “The Climate Change Climate Change: The number of skeptics is swelling everywhere (6/26’o9). In America, however, we are not allowed to discuss this - along with a whole host of related topics - in open debate. In fact, I have even heard voices suggesting that ‘global warming’ skeptics be subject to criminal penalties similar to penalties imposed by some countries on holocaust deniers. The fact that this bill was passed on a Friday evening without rigorous debate (how is it possible to debate something that no one has read?) is a pretty good indication that its proponents believe that sentiments concerning this particular issue are about to shift.
Why, then, be in such a hurry to ram it through? That's precisely because this bill has nothing to do with ‘global warming’ and everything to do with ideology. For one thing, government needs the money generated by this bill to pay for its proposed Health Care Reform. Major media had pretty much taken a neutral stance, asking only the question, ‘Will Obama prevail?’ What is generally understood to be right-wing talk radio has been screaming against passage, urging listeners to call their representatives, even while acknowledging that the issue has become strictly partisan. Talk radio listeners responded, jamming Washington switchboards in huge numbers. One representative in Oregon was asked if he would vote for the bill. He said, yes. When asked if he had read it, he said, no. Would he still vote in favor of the bill? He said, yes.
What right-wing talk radio listeners did not know was that they were not the only ones calling. Spanish language radio stations have also been exhorting their listeners to call the Capitol Hill and the White House to express their support for the bill. I understand that they were promised that comprehensive Immigration Reform coupled with ‘Universal Health Care’ would be next on the agenda.
No one believes that ‘Universal Health Care Reform’ will actually improve health care in America. Obama himself admitted during a recent press conference that he would take members of his own family to private doctors should they require it. (Same as sending his own children to elite private rather than public schools.) What, I ask again, is the reason for the rush in pushing all these bills through Congress (now)?
Simple! Obama’s unspoken agenda is to bankrupt the country and to drive down the dollar. In this way America will never again be in a position to exert its influence on the world stage. Obama sees his messianic mission as one to unite the world under a single authority. To this end he is willing to sacrifice the nation that has elected him to be its leader. By advocating in the enslavement of the American people to outside interests, he has effectively broken the oath of his office. In the old world order, there existed a word to describe such behavior. That word (and I have never used it here before; and I do so now only with a heavy heart) is TREASON.
Comparatively speaking, Obama’s vision of his new Utopian world order is nearly as unrealistic as Ahmadinejad’s apocalyptic vision of the emergence of the Mahdi or the 12th Imam from the bottom of a well. Reasonable people in both nations have been effectively shut out of the conversation. What has been seen as happening on the streets of Tehran is the result of frustration building in an increasingly disenfranchised electorate. The government’s response was also predictable. Similarly, as the consequences of Obama’s (and in some ways Bush’s) policies mount, at some point the people can be expected to revolt. And the government can be expected to respond – with everything it has.

In both cases, intrigue and sophistry reigned supreme. War of utter destruction and victory ended one. The other succumbed to internal strife, economic failure, and the nationalism that was inherent in the individual nations exerting pressure on the central Union which would not be denied. To the extent some encouraging words from a couple of Presidents brought on the collapse seems a stretch and implausible. But, history is made by being on the right side at the right time.
As far as Iran and North Korea, both are single nations and predominantly inhabited by single populations who must be beholding to the Nation without question. Negotiations became futile as defiance intensified and counter offers in compromise became more and more outrageous and impossible. Frustration pushed limits to the fore as time went on while the will of a Nation and the Law had been challenged... brought to a hopeless impasse. Dismantling of the regime became the means to the end. By then, most all expected the worst, yet, not many anticipated how horrible the worst can become.
We all know what transpired. The Supreme Leader ordered it to end in the manner he had repeatedly told the followers it was going to end.
Today, we see the Supreme Leaders of these two Nations. They are no different than the Branch Davidian Koresh. The Universal Law of Nations is aligning to dismantle them. The Law stands across the Divide and should beckon to them who might find a way to come out into the protection of the Law. The cult in N Korea is years beyond the Iranians. Their population is subdued, passive, and too weak to resist or protest. In Iran, the world has witnessed the techniques that cults rely on to manage and maintain civil obedience. Soon, we will be left only to wonder and imagine what is taking place behind the walls of the compound.
