Beijing POTUS Frail

Why does the humble and kind Dalai Lama, 74, spook the unelected leadership in Beijing? Why did POTUS hesitate to greet the Dalai Lama when he arrived on Capitol Hill to receive a ceremonial award from Nancy Pelosi? Why would the Dalai Lama be a significant freedom fighter in the 21st century? All the same answer. Because at the 60th anniversary of the so-called founding of PRC, the Beijing cadre presented a portrait of a gang of sycophants and liars who are frail, defeatist, riven, aimless, despairing, without friends or allies, isolated, obsolete, criminal, lazy, doomed. The Parade Without People was a farce of epic tininess. The eighty meter square video screen of Fearless Hu Leader was a Terry Gillam scale cartoon of a cult of personality reduced to the swollen lips of a powerless fool. Hu even wore a mock-up of a Maoist jacket, though this one looked tailored of cool wool and worth about $5 million. The joy of the parade was the glamorous marching girls in tight shorts with long legs and Yangtze sized smiles. The parade was a defeat but the young people of China are a treat. That is why the Beijing cadre fears the Dalai Lama. His Holiness is a delight to the young; he lights up the room; every child loves that act. He is like a wizened teddy bear and as sweetly affectionate as Pooh. And what does he represent?  The conquest of dignity and gentleness. That is why Hu and Wen and the bully boys fear him. The massacre in Tibet last year, the massacre in Xinjiang this summer, the severe hysteria over the so-called hypodermic attacks by make-believe Uyghur posses, all point to an empire that has lost controlof the narrative.  In a despotism, any dissent is a final threat because there is no sense of proportion. Hu lacks confidence in what he is told to be accurate about the empire. The Dalai Lama is as giant and relentless a threat to Hu as an invasion. Hu lives inside rumors and whispers and silences. Hu's refusal to pick his successor at the Party Plenum in September -- passing by the groomed stooge Xi -- is a measure of heated cowering. Rather than risk a mistake, Hu chose nothing.

POTUS Chooses Hu.

The off-stage flap of this day's award ceremony (above with John McCain, 73, and Nancy Pelosi, who look and speak wonderfully together) is that POTUS has chosen to sort of skip past the Dalai Lama's visit. Valerie Jarrett traveled to India sevela weeks back to tell the Dalai Lama that POTUS aioms to greet him -- but after the POTUS's first trip to Beijing to grip hands with Hu and his flabby, frowning cadre.   Such is the Politburo statecraft in the Obama years.  FDR sent the Dalai Lama a special watch.  In 2006, George Bush presented the Dalaia Lama the Congressional Medal.  George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton and George Bush all welcomed the Dalai Lama to DC. POTUS will delay. For fear of the fearful? More diplomacy.  POTUS may not be confident enough to turn away from the conventional.   The 12th Dalai Lama looks to be the long-patient sort.  His Holiness says that he wants "self-determination and dignity" for Tibet and China.  The separate states of Tibet and China.   Tibet has a conquering hero in Dalai Lama.  China has a cowering clown in Hu.   What does the US have in POTUS?

A Joker!~再见

Someone that is pusillanimous, supplicating, non-confrontational, and in my father's dialectical Italian, a cacasotto. I would also add he's an invertebrate. This is as if the Lion of the jungle is letting the prey dictate what the Lion will eat or where it can go. May be not the best analogy, but it works for me and by the way, wasn't the Obamessiah quiet about the Empire State Building?

>Why did POTUS hesitate to greet the Dalai Lama when he arrived on Capitol Hill to receive a ceremonial award from Nancy Pelosi?

Um, perhaps because we owe "this gang of sycophants and liars who are frail, defeatist, riven, aimless, despairing, without friends or allies, isolated, obsolete, criminal, lazy, doomed" a hajillion dollars.

Agreed Ken, but even so, he's spineless. You'd think a president would want to figure out a way to get out from under that. Instead, he wants to get on his knees.

The Dali Lama reminds me of Pope John Paul the Great. JPII's message of love, peace, and especially courage freed Poland and Eastern Europe.

JPII needed assistance and moral support from Thatcher, Reagan, and the AFL-CIO.

The Dalai Lama was rescued by the CIA who brought him over the Himalayas to Freedom in India, he is a natural ally to the USA.

The Dalai Lama is adored by the world, Religious Liberals especially. Amazing how often Obama is taking his base for granted.

You hit the nail on the head. There can be no other explanation. One "frail, defeatist, riven, aimless, despairing, without friends or allies, isolated, obsolete, criminal, lazy, doomed" nation has its grip on the jugular of another frail, defeatist, riven, aimless, despairing, without friends or allies, isolated, obsolete, criminal, lazy, doomed nation. This shows how far America has fallen.

Like two ravenous rats with one Cheeto™ between them!

>he's spineless

Indeed. What most people have yet to realize about Obama is how timid he is. Perhaps that comes from his having been raised solely by women.
