Jerry Seib Works Hard to Reset POTUS.
The eve of POTUS's second Oval Office speech, this time on Deepwater Iraq, the estimable and trenchant Jerry Seib, WSJ, measures the Obama administration foreign policy in the ummah and finds it "reset." This is generous and ambitious at once. POTUS has no policy in the ummah. Iran describes another idea that POTUS cannot figure and does not seek counsel to figure. With regard Iraq, POTUS remains against the war. With regard Afghanistan, POTUS remains certain that this is the necessary war. With regard Israel and Palestine, POTUS remains certain that by bringing peace to the region, palaver, palaver. In sum, POTUS arrived at the Oval Office with a fresh posture and little information, and over the last 20 months, despite his unique access to information, POTUS has remained at "reset." POTUS disdains foreign policy. POTUS disdains domestic policy. POTUS asserts and asserts on camera. Off-camera, POTUS retreats to his certainty without information. POTUS is more an amateur today than he was when he chose to run for POTUS in December 2006, two months after Senator Obama's bagman, Tony Rezko, was indicted for graft. POTUS was then and remains now an amateur cipher. No psychology needed or useful. Reset is POTUS. Each day. What does this mean for the so-called "direct talks" between Netanyahu and Abbas? Very little. SecState Clinton is taking an unusually strong part here. No reset to HRC. HRC learns. POTUS surprisingly uninvolved. VPOTUS Biden a liability to the Democrats, not to POTUS. POTUS disdains Biden and the Democrats. POTUS disdains Washington. This is not psychology. It is POTUS taste, perhaps also to be found in reset Oval Office design colors. Taupe, beige, neutrals -- did I say beige? Does POTUS think he is beige? I am beige. Are you beige? What is taupe? Reset beige may be taupe. RESET POTUS is zero.

Dear Mr. Obama,
It occurs to me that you one of your major malfunctions in life is that you were not raised as an American. You were raised as Anti-American. It all goes back to your childhood; much has been written about it, and it is not necessary for me to recant how you relish being a street kid in indonesia learning the koran. Or how you spent years listening to Reverend Wright spew his hate fueled sermons. Frankly sir, I really don’t care about you, or your small, and insignificant life. I really only care about the American lives you are destroying in pursuit of the green or red liberal unicorn. Instead I’d like to discuss with you a problem you have with lying, cheating, and stealing. When I was a boy I had similar problems, I always say my mother hit me because she was drunk, my father hit me because I deserved it. One of the methods that was deployed to give me something called character was not just the sift whack to the backside, but the bedtime story.
How to Behave and Why by Muro Leaf was the story among others that were read to me in order to instill some sense of a moral compass. The book is broken into five parts that discuss the following words: HONEST, FAIR, STRONG, WISE and finally a discussion of why all of this is so important to leading a good life. That is, if all of us aspire to those standards peace and comity would the norm, and strife and struggle would be the exception, and further we all would create excess capacity to help those souls who legitimately require our compassion. Being that you lie with such mellifluous ease one example from the book I think you can benefit from immediately is the discussion on lying; “Only a dope would tell a lie. One of the quickest ways to lose your friends(voters?) and to make people dislike you is to lie.”
Maybe if you started to tell the truth your poll numbers would start going up?
In closing you might consider buying a copy and reading it to your children, maybe some of it will rub off on you. Considering the lies you told during your speech in a Wisconsin battery factory you could certainly use a refresher course on the truth. You know what Mr. Obama, it is one thing to lie to your “believers” it is quite another to play your tune to families that are relying on the truth to feed, and protect their families.
That is wrong, and I will not stand for it, nor will my fellow citizens on November 2, 2010.
Respectfully,

Dear President Obama:
It seems like a lifetime ago, considering the economy is being shoved off a cliff by your backward, not a snowballs-chance-in-hell-of-working economic policy; while you simultaneously grab the parachutes off of Americas collective back. The grinding free-fall is becoming a reality for most in a world of depleted savings, and little reward for work other then survival. Soon after your assuming the throne you called on the Queen of England, then you presented her majesty with an ipod full of your speeches. Being a little bit of an audiophile, I’ve still got a reel to reel player and a record player, in my vast collection I have speeches from the most pivotal moments in recorded history, Churchill, FDR, the bombing of Pearl Harbor and much more. Of course I have an ipod too, and on it I have a bunch of speeches on that like the ones that Reagan delivered after his 49 state landslide, and the one he gave so presciently, and with great vigor in 1964. There is a vast chasm between you, and President Reagan. To understand this all one needs to hear is the response of the crowd to his nomination acceptance speech in Detroit, Michigan, to absorb the wisdom, humility, and love of country that Mr. Reagan held.
You see, Mr. Obama, men like President Reagan believed in what they were saying with their heart, soul, and mind. Men like Mr. Reagan understood that the American people had been suckered in the past, and they deserved the service of an American that would serve genuinely without pretense, or false witness. Mr. Obama, do you know what it means when a person has to speak in low tones, or can’t say one speech to every audience whether it is New York City, or Houston, Texas or, Minot Air force Base. It means they are practicing the art of obfuscation, because in their heart, in your heart Mr. Obama, you know that if you told the whole truth, and nothing but the truth your entire world would come crashing down. President Reagan earned the respect of the American people by holding himself, and frankly us, to a standard, and a hope, that we would once again see America as a shining beacon of liberty to all who seek her shores.
Mr. Obama I hope that one day you grow enough to earn our respect. I do not believe that there is a soul on this Earth who can’t decide that tomorrow is the day they do the right thing, including you. Yet, the evidence for this opportunity is diminishing by the week with every opportunity you have had to promote, and celebrate what makes America so special you blew, and as I think, Sinatra once said, not in a small way. If President Reagan were alive today he would be ashamed of what you have done thus far, he would be doing everything in his power to rally Americans to defeat you, and your ilk at the ballot box.
Since he is not here, it will be my honor, our honor, to try to do it for him.
Respectfully,
Joe Doakes

"POTUS retreats to his certainty without information."
This, I believe, is the standard issue Left approach to real problems. They stand always at the ready to ensure that none of their beloved theories is done to death by a gang of ugly facts.
"POTUS disdains foreign policy. POTUS disdains domestic policy."
It's his default face. I can't stand looking at him any more. I'm always the object of a disdainful, contemptuous lecture. Obama should have been a public intellectual. It's what he was made for, the supercilious trend-setter for a salon.
Hey, we voted for the guy! Next time (if there is a next time) we’ll be more careful. Mr. Batchelor is only half right when he says: “POTUS disdains foreign policy. POTUS disdains domestic policy.” Obama distains foreign policy because in this he has already failed. His apologetic overtures and pathetic prostrations in foreign capitals have not had their desired effect. Nobody out there - in the real world - takes mere palaver seriously. It’s got to be backed up with something more substantial than hot air and a preparedness to commit treason.
Domestic policy is quite another matter. This is an area in which POTUS feels he still has some leverage. Indeed, domestic policy will be by which he will measure success. If he should succeed in turning his ship of state on a leftward course, all else can be expected to fall into place.
What has become clear is that the American people are jumping ship. Obama had hoped for - but did not expect - their support. As it is, only one arrow remains in his quiver: revolution. To this end he will continue to prod and poke, trying his best to whip the people up into a lather. Once this happens, he will have achieved his goal. He can then impose draconian measures that most will find preferable to chaos.
We saw the same MO employed with regard to the oil spill. Nothing yet as to its cause, which appears to be a closely held state secret. Though, speculation abounds. It provided the rationale to impose an oil drilling moratorium. Now that the threat is over, we don’t see the moratorium lifted. It will remain in place to put pressure on America’s lifeline (energy). Eventually prices will rise beyond what can be sustained, putting additional strain on an already faltering economy. When everyone begins shouting ‘collapse!’, Obama will have achieved what he set out to do.
November’s midterms will not change the script. Conventional wisdom has it that Obama will have been sent a signal and that he will change course. He will not. Besides being a committed ideologue, he is also a realist. He knows that what he has already put in place can not be reversed. He knows that economic collapse is at hand. Perhaps he’s getting cold feet. Perhaps he is already looking for a place to hide. All that is possible.

Cheery little piece there, Peter me lad!!
"Hey, we voted for the guy!"
Hey! Speak for yourself! I certainly didn't.
I didn't either. So how the hell did he get here? How did this chump even get on the ballot in the first place? If you think back you'll find it's been coming for a long time. At some point, each and everyone of us should have had an opportunity to draw the line and take a stand. ...but we didn't. We just let it happen.
I'm really surprised the Right has not gone after the Code Pink Crowd. Barry's speech was a concession that the surge worked.
Many on the left, including Senators Reid and Obama of Illinois, stated the surge would not work and voted against it. Remind them and their constituents.
The right should be drilling home the fact that the radical left's military policies utterly FAILED. Their Economic Policies are FAILING. Their Jobs Policies are FAILING.
Make it personal, and make it damning.
In a breaking story that you're liable not to hear much about, the California Assembly pulled SB 810 (Leno) Single Payer - universal, single-payer healthcare for California, from the docket to be voted on yesterday. Since August 31st was the deadline for them to vote on it, it means it's dead until next year. The Democrats themselves pulled it for the very same reason Pelosi should have pulled the ObamaCare bill but didn't - if the Dems voted against it, they'd get run out of office by their liberal wing, if the Dems voted for it, they'd get run out of office by everyone else with half a brain. So they did the smart thing - they pulled it entirely, meaning nobody would have to vote on it at all.
This is and isn't a game-changer. It isn't a game-changer because Schwarzenegger would have vetoed it anyway (he'd done so twice before). But it IS a game-changer because it's the first sign I've seen that the Dems in the Assembly have any clue what's going on in the rest of the country or California for that matter.
P.S. WHOOOOOPPPPEEEEEEEEEE
Unfortunately, they still have no clue when it comes to what marriage is...
Baby steps. I'd say a much bigger problem at the moment is their insistence that anyone who manages to sneak across the border has a right to a lifetime of free benefits and easily obtainable immigration status as long as they promise to vote Democratic and refrain from defecating in the streets.
And the latter of those two conditions is just strongly recommended, but not mandatory.
I think the CIA quietly put something in the drinking water in CA, and low and behold...
