What's Breaking News Tonight?

Gallup Clouds Ahead

The Myrtle Beach debate is a vanity, and if it encourages the locals to vote in the primary, and raises some money for the state party, okay; but truly, is SC in doubt either now or in November? More compelling study is the Gallup polls published these hours that underline the troubles for POTUS Obama. The election does not turn on Mitt Romney's operatic villainy at Bain. The election is about Obama and the electorate's opinion of POTUS over the last 36 months. Gallup offers grim and cloudy comparisons to the losing incumbents Ford, Carter, GHW Bush. We focus on the jobs number, but the more telling for me is the GDP. Obama's trend is headed to flat-lining or downward from the 1.3% GDP recorded in September 2011.  Only Carter's was worse, and GHW Bush was whipped with a 4.3 GDP that Obama can dream about.  The GDP points to job growth or shrinkage.  The prospects for recovery in the next nine months are slight to nil, and the news from Europe points to a crisis sooner.  Also, Joe Brusuelas tells me that the Fed will enter into the MBS market again for up to $650 Billion of securities in order to support the still sinking housing.  A ruin.  Obama can win, but it is going to be unprecedented in a stormy global economy where in the US will look like a haven only in comparison to the sunken ships of state in Europe and Asia.

Perry, Santorum and Romney: they will play no part in the GDP that will make or break POTUS Obama in November.

What about POTUS and the Iranians? $5/gal gas would not bode well for his reelection, even though I bet he will open up the strategic petroleum reserve with big fanfare, while simultaneously denying any offshore drilling permits. I am assuming that this is why he delayed the joint missile defense exercise with the IDF. Are the twelvers rational enough to hold off on blocking the straits of Hormuz long enough for POTUS to be reelected, and then they will stick it to us assuming POTUS is too impotent to do anything?

If Europe is beginning to slide back into recession, I would imagine the Iranians could hold high gas prices over their heads to buy their inactivity on further sanctions. And the Saudis are just sitting back and smiling about higher oil prices ahead. How are POTUS and Hillary going to puzzle this one out to get him across the reelection line in November.

Perhaps if the Israelis want to get rid of POTUS they will go ahead and strike Iran this Spring or Summer. If POTUS is reelected I would expect his Jeremiah Wright inspired anti-semitism to make life even more difficult for Israel. Whew! What a mess.

Even JB is catching the Downton fever...=)

NEWT RADIO COMMERCIAL. UGGGH.

Just heard a Newt radio commercial. Not surprisingly, it's pure crap. Must be the same people that did the Bain disaster.

All a commercial has to do is let Newt talk. Just broadcast his answers from the debates. HINT: The best answers are the ones that get applause. Instead we get commercials that are so bad, they sound like anti-Newt commercials. Real amateur hour.

I guess all the pundits that said you need a ground game were right.

"Real amateur hour."

At some point, where it is sufficiently bad enough that only professionals could accomplish that degree of incompetence and cluelessness, they lose their amateur standing.
