Friday 18 September 2020 / Hour 2, Block A:  Michael E Vlahos, Johns Hopkins; in re:
Are we in a civil war?   Vanity Fair magazine: Anticipating Donald Trump’s stealing the election; “Fight Back Table.”  Violence is a product of imagination: people imagine themselves being violent before actually acting.  What’s been going on in the US for several years is an accretive build-up for the big clash.  Start with existential framing: “The other side wants to destroy my life.” Conviction that the alien other is evil. Now the other is rendered illegitimate; an illegitimate Constitutional order.  The election process, itself: the Electoral College, how states are given different scales of influence in the outcome: all marshal evidence in favor of one’s view.  Blue will do anything to prevent red from taking power for another four years.  So far, have been breaking the law and committing violence.  Coup d’etat failed; now, a coup de main.  Pennsylvania: 280,000 new gun permits. Pessimism that society, itself, is coming apart.  Fight Back Table promises to bring millions into the streets..
Friday 18 September 2020 / Hour 2, Block B:  Michael E Vlahos, Johns Hopkins; in re:
Gaius and Germanicus.  Transition began in the election of 2000; preparing for twenty year for a transition:  from peaceful transitions of power to where succession is by coups d’etat, and civil war, possibly nonviolent and ceremonial.  Democrats sending out messages to normalize their plans and whet the appetites of their followers. Do we become two nations, or re-engage the battle again in 2024?  The happiest outcome will be a divided nation; the worst is a brutal suppression of one side—probably red.
Friday 18 September 2020 / Hour 2, Block C:  Chris Riegel, Scala.com; in re: Since March 2020, 500 businesses have filed for bankruptcy, Acceleration of the new retail environment Jeff Bezos brought pressure pre-Covid; now, masses are electing to have purchases shipped. A generational shift: millennial prefer to buy online.  A tractor supply company in rural New York: my millennial son and I were amazed at some of the stock, could never have had the same experience online.  Retail will transform itself; all retail will have the equivalent of Apple geniuses.
Friday 18 September 2020 / Hour 2, Block D: Francis Rose, Government Matters, in re:  The census.  . . .  Developing one’s transition team months before the election. The General Services Administration.

Friday 18 September 2020 / Hour 3, Block B: Henry Miller, MD; Pacific Research Institute; FDA veteran; in re:  The workaround of all time.  Secretary required to consult with but not agree with three subordinates. Among the current three, one is conspicuous by his absence: the FDA rep.
Friday 18 September 2020 / Hour 3, Block C:  Robert Zimmerman, BehindtheBlack.com, in re:   . . .  White dwarf; exoplanet the size of Jupiter.
Friday 18 September 2020 / Hour 3, Block D:  Robert Zimmerman, BehindtheBlack.com, in re:   . . . Space engineering.
