The “real” rate of return is adjusted for inflation.  Ergo, real interest rates have been declining for seven hundred years.  . . .  Central bankers use interest rates as their main policy tool: cut to stimulate; and when the economy is growing too fast, it raises interest rates.  Interest rates at zero: the tool becomes unusable.  BofE went to 0.5%  . . . need to find other mans of control.

Enormous numbr of military and security ties; a huge port outside the Strait of Hormuz for docking and servicing arircraft carriers, inter al.  Sheikh Khalid has been sidelned from foreign ministry; he’s been a leading advocate of ties with Israel. Simon Henderson is the Baker Fellow and director of the Bernstein Program on Gulf and Energy Policy at The Washington Institute, specializing in energy matters and the conservative Arab states of the Persian Gulf. A former journalist with the Financial Times, Mr. Henderson has also worked as a consultant advising corporations and governments on the Persian Gulf.
