JOHN BATCHELOR SHOW
Colleagues: Sebastian Gorka, America First radio and Fox; and Malcolm Hoenlein, Conference of Presidents

Hour One
Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 1, Block A: Victor Davis Hanson, @VDHanson, Hoover & NRO, in re:  The Democratic party has relied heavily on the Black vote, but in recent decades has abandoned Black and Latino jobs.    The middle-class and upper-middle-class white people screaming epithets at police and tearing down statues are not gathering support.  Trump is campaigning on Land of Liberty.  Elites have been harassing diners, grabbing food off tables.  Mexican-Americans complain that the protestors are unwilling to work, while “I have to wake up at 4 AM to go run or fix a tractor.”  The elites think of every Latino as an ageing Cesar Chavez, get their news of Latinos from their own colleagues, all of whom seem to be clueless. BLS has a huge war chest.  Don Lemon.  https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/09/trump-race-and-class/
Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 1, Block B:  Victor Davis Hanson, @VDHanson, Hoover & NRO, in re:  The disputed island of Cyprus; intl observers hold the Greece has the stronger claim.  US and Greece are increasing their joint work.  Turkey can't understand why EU and North America tend to favor Greece: perhaps because many of their ancestors suffered at the hands of Turks and Ottomans.  Turkey and Greece have several times almost gone to war; unplanned between to NATO members, but Turkey has stress-tested its membership. https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/09/greek-turkish-rivalry-near-boiling-point/
Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 1, Block C: Jonatan Vseviov, Ambassador of Estonia to the United States; in re:  Diplomatic initiative, The Three Seas Initiative, linking twelve nations from the Black to the Adriatic to the Baltic Seas. We’re a region of 100 million people, fastest-growing economies in the EU.  Governments are putting in funds with the main goal to have private capital take over. Last February at the Munich Security Conference, Mike Pompeo pledged US support for this, and Germany also has done so. In Estonia, we're well-educated, most are fluent in English, and our bureaucracy and taxes are minimal so we’re easy to do business with. We're politically stable. The IMF has identified a billions of dollars’ worth of gap: because of the decades we were under the USSR; ergo, there are a lot of profits to be made in our region.
Estonia has developed e-business. In 1991 we gained our freedom and had to make up the years of lost history because of the occupation; we needed to leapfrog.  It was roughly the same time that the Internet came in strongly. Almost every government service is online, from taxes to DMV to voting.  Of bank transactions, 99.8% are online. We save five days per person every year because no one ever has to go stand in line. All this was especially useful during the pandemic. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/483227-pompeo-pledges-1-billion-in-us-support-for-european-energy

Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 1, Block D:  Conrad Black, @ConradMBlack, publisher and litterateur, & American Greatness, in re: The feud between McCain and Trump.  Buttagieg, “a rodentine” [character], averred that since Trump said he hadn't spoken ill of McCain in certain ways, that proves that Trump did indeed impugn WWI soldiers. Asinine.  Trump did call a handful of fellows “a bunch of stiffs. Expect even more smears from th Democratic party  in the weeks to come.  https://amgreatness.com/2020/09/07/the-biden-slime-operation/

Hour Two
Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 2, Block A:  Ken Marcus, and Malcolm Hoenlein, in re: Accomplishments at the Department of Education. Ethnic studies requirement in California; initiatives at the Brandeis Center.   Straightforward anti-Semitism in California: a curriculum attacks moral opprobrium to success because Irish people and Jews enjoy special privileges.   Pres Trump promulgated a rule saying that Jewish students will be protected, esp where anti-Israel extremism has permeated colleges, and now high schools; they attack Jews as having “special privileges.”
Kenneth L. Marcus is Founder and Chairman of the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, former Assistant U.S. Secretary of Education for Civil Rights, and author of The Definition of Anti-Semitism (Oxford University Press: 2015).

Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 2, Block B:  Ben Weinthal, in re: Iranian human rights abuse of Navid Afkari. Europe's response to the Charlie Hebdo trial. Ben’s recent monograph on BDS. Germany and Lithuania have banned Hezbollah, a narcoterrorist military gang. France is slow on the uptake. It would be helpful if the whole EU took this up.  . . .Helpful if the US Congress declared BDS to be an anti-Semitic movement.
Benjamin Weinthal is a research Fellow at FDD. A widely published journalist based in Berlin, he serves as FDD’s eyes and ears in Europe. Benjamin’s investigative reporting has uncovered valuable information on Iran’s energy links to European firms and on Hamas’s  and Hezbollah’s terror-finance operations in Europe.

Behnam Ben Taleblu is a senior Fellow at FDD where he focuses on Iranian security and political issues. Behnam previously served as a research fellow and senior Iran analyst at FDD. Prior to his time at FDD, Behnam worked on non-proliferation issues at an arms control think-tank in Washington.

Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 2, Block D: Malcolm Hoenlein, in re:
 . . . A 158-mile secret pipeline from Iran to Israel.

Hour Three
Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 3, Block A: Sebastian Gorka, @SebGorka,             America First radio, in re: Why did Joe Biden leave his splendid basement and go to Kenosha?  “He’s playing follow my leader,” as Trump had already blazed the trail that direction.  Biden said that 6,114 members of the armed services had died; in fact, it was exactly seven.  A video of Biden saying a few weeks ago: “We will get rid of fossil fuels.”  To date Trump reps have knocked on a million doors; Biden, none.  Apparently 6% of Trump voters will go to the polls; 75% of Biden voters will do so by mail.  It’ll be a long wait to see who actually wins.  Signatures are supposed to be verified, also the postmarks; we lack the infrastructure to do this [swiftly].
Bob Woodward has returned.  JB:  “My personal experience is that it's dangerous to become famous when you're young.” SvG: “Oleaginous sycophancy” of Woodward.
Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 3, Block B:  Sebastian Gorka, @SebGorka,            America First radio, in re:  Bumper sticker: “I hope the Russians trick me into voting for Trump again.” First-class KGB agents got assigned to Paris or London, not to Dresden in East Germany, which is where Putin was sent.  “If I were sitting in Moscow, I'd want Biden to be elected president of the US.”  “Exactly; China also wants Biden to win.”  Salena Zito says that Pennsylvania wants Trump.  “True. They're extremely confident about Pennsylvania.”
Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 3, Block C: Veronique de Rugy, Mercatus:  Airlines bailouts.  Fire tens of thousands of employees, or get another bailout of $25 billion (the first was $50 billion).  Proves that bailouts don't solve problems.  A better idea is bankruptcy: keep flying, restructure, get capital from the capital markets.
Thursday 10 September 2020 / 2020  / Hour 3, Block D:  Monica Crowley: @TreasurySpox & @MonicaCrowley  @USTreasury; Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of the Treasury; in re: Overall economy is recovering faster than expected. The professional Cassandras missed by more than five points—trillions of dollars.
